Vyykn is an early stage startup trying to disrupt the $150 Billion bottled water industry by removing the expense, logistics and pollution of bottled water.
In place of single-use bottles, Vyykn provides filtered water on-demand through a network of hydration "springs". Every Vyykn Spring is a connected iOT device that is accessible to Vyykn members 24 hours a day. A membership offers unlimited premium ionized, carbonated and still water for only $5 a month.
We designed a mobile app to track members hydration and help them locate Vyykn springs nearby. We also designed the Vyykn spring touchscreen interface.

I interviewed a group of professional women between the ages of 24 and 46. Some "tried to drink enough water every day" while others were very committed to a routine of hydration. I focused on the committed water drinkers like Lisa.
Having everything connected in the cloud opens up all sorts of exciting possibilities. Devices can access user data, and push updates back to the database, enabling a seamless experience. Below is a user flow that shows how Lisa's mobile app and the Vyykn Spring would connect and share data to provide Lisa an optimal user experience.
The Vyykn mobile app creates a hydration goal for every member by tracking their location, weight and level of exercise. It then suggests times to hydrate, and tracks your daily hydration against your goal.
To add some gamification to the experience, we added features like "Your Hydration Streak" to track how many days you reached your goal in a row.
The Vyykn Spring interface provided full transparency and real time data on the quality of the Vyykn water to establish trust with members and curious passers-by. When a member connects with the Spring, it pulls up their hydration history for the previous and current week.
The Vyykn logo, color palette, icons and type convey purity, modernity and trust. Our extensive use of gauges and data aim to provide extreme transparency and personalization.
